I have officially signed up for the 100 Day Book course through The Write Practice! I signed up to give myself additional accountability and a community of writers to interact with. The course has lessons and videos to go through and I have a weekly deadline. Each week, my personal goal is to write 5,000 words and the course goes through September 7th! With this course, my focus is to make a routine for writing and get my ideas down. I do not need to focus on editing or anything like that. By September 7th, I should have my first draft of my first book complete!
How did week one go? It could have been better! After talking to my therapist and telling her what’s going on in my life she said I sounded super busy and asked if I felt like it was too much or if I enjoyed being that busy. I smiled and told her I enjoy it and I love seeing friends, but then the next day I broke down crying from feeling overwhelmed. I signed up to volunteer most of the weekend for something and had plans with two different friends. I enjoy catching up with people and I do enjoy volunteering, but I think I am too quick to say yes sometimes and need to space out my plans. I am someone that enjoys people, but I need a lot of alone time to recharge as well.
I already had a doctor’s appointment this week and one lunch with a friend so I am keeping those plans, but not adding anything else to my schedule this week. Next week, I will be on vacation from my regular job! I will be out of town the whole time and visiting family. I know this will affect my writing, but I am taking my laptop with me so I will plan to set aside at least two times to write during the week I am gone.
This week, I am working on Chapter Three of my first book! I was feeling good with how it was coming along when I suddenly realized I’d written the whole chapter in first person and…my first two chapters are in third person!
Ugh! So I am off to re-write my third chapter. If you are reading this please comment below and tell me which do you prefer to read, first person or third person?
